31.8 in the bag

I realized the night before the big run why I did it, or was going to do it.
We had sat down as a family to watch Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark. I was thinking about how great of an adventure movie it was when it hit me… I’m looking for an adventure. That’s why [...]

“Shall I put you down as a ‘general christian’ then?”

Diane’s mom Joan had what appears to have been a minor stroke this week. I went in yesterday to visit her. She’s doing great and there were a ton of people coming in asking her a ton of questions.
After I was there a hospital chaplain came in offering her services. I think she was an [...]

Memorial Day 31.8 Mile Fun Run/Walk/Bike/Rollerblade

Last year I biked 100 miles for the first time on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. With Diane being pregnant this year I don’t want to be that far away from home. So this year I’m going to attempt to run 31.8 continuous miles. The odd number is because it’s the distance from my [...]

Links that caught my attention today

Usually I cruise through my bloglines. Today was different…
Why do you know more about 1 horse dying than 20,000 people dying? Doesn’t this bother you?
Leadership Gold: Kurt blogs about Andy Stanley’s random leadership thoughts at Drive.
iGod – Please have a sense of humor. I personally found it creepy.
Seth Godin linked to the game brandtags. Seth says:
“It’s [...]

Things you think about when running anywhere from 10-25 miles

How to deal with a personal conflict with someone else.
When you can eat your next energy bar or gel.
Work through some personal or professional goals.
Whether or not that giant rottweiller will come out of it’s yard after you.
How much people litter.
Whether or not to use your cell phone to call the police to come get [...]

What’s next?

We’re at River Rock on our staff retreat. Many of us are sore from laughing too much. Here’s a picture of Larry at dinner with a very feminine looking desert:

His head is hung in shame because I told him I was revoking his “man card.”
Derek opened up our time by having us get away alone [...]

2 Events in Erie worth checking out… well maybe just one. You can be the judge.

Many Erie friends know that I used to participate in a sport that involved telephone pole flipping. That’s me below a few years back when I used to be chunky and handsome.

This is at the Edinboro Highland Games. It’s being held on Saturday May 17th. For a little games is packs a lot in. There’s [...]

Programming for a change

I haven’t written anything about our junior high retreat last weekend.
My problem with both retreats this year is that I had a difficult time being “in the moment.” I was nearly in a constant state of evaluation. God granted me reprieve on both weekends and I walked away with some great ideas for next year.
One of [...]
