I did some training with my senior high mentors this week. It began with them answering this question. With adults and students in the room, here was their responses:
To provide a solution to the lack of Godly relationships in teenagers’ lives.
To help students feel accepted somewhere. To teach students how to apply Godly principles and things in the Bible to their own lives.
To provide a lasting faith through high school that continues to college.
Complacency.
The problem is sin, separation from God. We are here to connect people with Jesus and establish lasting relationships with Jesus.
Clear up senior high students’ confusion about the complexity and misconceptions of God and the Bible and to help them learn to incorporate Jesus and his teachings into the way they live their lives.
As a leader I liked how the tone of the answers were focused on Jesus and the development of a faith that makes it out of high school.
You can read about what research is showing happens to many kids’ faith after high school here.

It’s just great that we have “research” for what we do now
