Today was an odd Easter.
The plan was to get up at 4:55am for the last 12 mile run of seven days in a row of them. I got up at 3:45am dazed thinking my alarm had gone off and started getting ready. I realized it was earlier but figured I’d just go early anyway.
While running I listened to an Andy Stanley Easter message. Two things stuck in my head from it as I approached worship later that morning:
1. Out of the thousands of people that had their lives taken by crucifixion, only one GAVE his life by it.
2. The detail in the gospels indicate the accounts were most likely not made up or written down after years of oral translation (Andy noted how Mark names the man who carried the crossbeam for Jesus, Simon, and even where he was from, Cyrene).
As we were singing in worship two thoughts entered my mind:
“It’s all true. This changes everything!”
I was moved to crying. I know there are changes I still need to make.
I need to let Jesus make them.
