ESV claim that part of John is not a part of scripture

Came across this note yesterday in the ESV study Bible in regards to John 7:53-8:11…
There is considerable doubt that this story is part of John’s original Gospel, for it is absent from all of the oldest manuscripts. But there is nothing in it unworthy of sound doctrine. It seems best to view the story as [...]

I think a lot of technology, ultimately, wastes time

The more I see how people are using technology, software and hardware, to manage their lives, the more I’m convinced I’m much more productive, and fulfilled, without it.
A little discipline goes a long way.
And is a heck of a lot cheaper!

Back to the future

I’ve got this question running through my head today:
In light of my past and considering my current circumstances, where do I want to be in the future?
I’ve had the very strong desire to think about this. The two things that are stopping me are when do I think about this and the question, “How long is [...]

Why you need to love the Steelers

I love the Steelers mainly because I was born and spent a good part of my life around Pittsburgh. I tell fans of other teams that if they lived there, they may still have another favorite team, but once they got to know the Steelers organization, they would come to love it.
For crying out loud, [...]

Protecting change

Two great quotes I heard from friends the past two days…
“I don’t understand people that want to protect rights they don’t use.”
That was from Aaron in relation to people insisting the Sabbath commandment is valid but they never follow it and don’t even know when the Sabbath is (hint: it ain’t Sunday).
“People don’t want change. [...]

The last “Bushism” for me

For 2008 Diane bought me a calendar of Bushisms that went up to the inaugeration. The last one, yesterday, read:
“You never know what your history is going to be like until long after you’re gone.”
-Washington, D.C.; May 5, 2006
Personally, I think a year’s worth of Clintonisms would have been a lot funnier!
P.S. Posting these on [...]

Did you rise?

I’m really not one for ceremony… but when the guy said “Please rise”, I rose in my living room.
By my clock it’s been 6 hours and 19 minutes since Barack Obama became President of the United States.
And by some miracle we’re STILL a democracy

I lift my hands up… sorta, kinda…

I’ve been working very hard at being a better corporate worshipper. I know that sound ridiculous but bear with me.
I was sick and tired of participating in a time where I am supposed to be connecting with the Almighty and spending it lost in thinking about other things, chatting with my neighbor, coming up with [...]

Sarah Palin feels the PAIN!

Holy crap I don’t know how I missed this!

LIVESTRONG becomes personal

Diane and I took the boys and Jenny, a boarding school student from China who’s with us for Christmas, to Dick’s last night. They had a great deal on running shoes and we were both due for some and so… “Merry Christmas Honey.” “Merry Christmas Sweetie.”
There was something else I needed to get, a new [...]
